Construction is progressing for a house in the foothills of the Himalayas. We assisted with the concept design for the refurbishment of the house and the client has been implementing some of the exciting ideas on site that includes a new feature central stair, double-height front window and an opened up living area – amazing!
We are pleased to welcome Ané. Originally from South Africa, Ané completed her undergraduate studies at Sheffield University and her postgraduate degree at the CASS. She enjoys the opportunities and challenges of working with existing buildings; celebrating their unique character whilst making them more responsive to 21st century living.
In her spare time, Ané is a ceramisist and has created many unique pieces and works of art.

HONE are pleased to welcome Alexandra to the Studio. Alexandra grew up in Russia and Cyprus and completed her education in Edinburgh. She has experience working on a wide variety of projects including exhibition design, commercial schemes, social housing and high-end residential both in the UK and abroad. She works as a freelance writer and podcaster in her spare time and co-hosts a weekly board gaming night.

HONE are pleased to welcome Mika Kanayama to the Studio. Originally a musician from Osaka, Japan, Mika trained as an interior designer in London and has designed restaurants, bars and cinemas across the UK. Her interest is in how interior spaces enrich day-to-day experiences, encouraging people to feel inspired, invigorated and content.
HONE are pleased to welcome Bethany Penman to the Studio. Bethany is passionate about human centric design and is currently studying for a degree in Environmental Psychology.

We are excited and pleased to announce that planning permission was granted by Wandsworth Council for our design of a new “invisible” four bedroom house with a sunken courtyard on a disused plot of land. The plot of land had a complex planning history where no previous application had been approved.

HONE Studio’s entry for the Don’t Move, Improve! 2018 competition has been featured in this year’s magazine and exhibition. HONE will be taking part in the Design Surgeries offering free 25 minute one-to-one design consultations on Saturday 28 April at 10.30 to 13.30. The free exhibition is running until Friday 20 April at The Building Centre, 26 Store Street, London WC1E 7BT.

Kimura have been open for 2 years! Time is really flying by and the clean and attractive design of the deli is still looking brand new and the food is amazing as ever.
HONE and TinTab have been working together to create beautiful feature staircases at Brompton House 2. The images give an insight into what goes into producing these finely crafted objects – from 3D drawings, to production in TinTab’s workshop, to installation on site. Every piece is designed and put together with care and precision creating transformative elements in the project.
The Cleveland Arms is now open.
The refurbishment of the Grade II Listed Cleveland Arms is now complete. Retaining many of its charming original features it is now open for all to enjoy.
Amwell Street Dance Studio is complete and is the new home to Escuela de Baile flamenco school. The converted church hall has been fully refurbished and fitted out with a vinyl covered sprung floor. A concealed kitchenette and storage facilities have increased the useable space and a moveable wall transforms the space into two smaller studios when the need arises. Retention of the original beams and the addition of an acoustic ceiling have retained the building’s original character while enhancing the overall dance experience.

Refurbishment and extension of a Grade II listed terraced house in Knightsbridge is now complete. The fully opening glazed doors to the rear and triple height atrium allow plenty of natural light to the ground and lower ground levels.
A great outcome for Cleveland House, with a successful appeal for a single storey rear extension on this listed building.
We are pleased to announce that planning permission has been granted by the London Borough of Brent for a new basement extension to a house in Queens Park.The basement will form a lovely expansive family space. A guest bedroom and ensuite are also proposed. The basement will be supplied with ample natural light through the external lightwells / small courtyards. HONE have acted as planning consultant for this application in addition to acting as the architect.

The transformation is underway at these spacious new dance studios near Sadlers Wells.
We are in the process of selecting a colour for the roof trusses.
Now that the acoustic insulation has been fitted, the sprung floor, joinery and folding partition are ready to be installed.
Business is booming at the Japanese Deli which has proved very popular with the local community. Its considered design and attractive interior, coupled with authentic Japanese food of the highest quality have made the Deli a real success story.
All major construction has now been completed of the rear, side and roof extension. Currently underway is the refurbishment of the bathroom, newly designed staircase to the roof extension, and complete refurbishment of the kitchen space which is at the heart of the project.
Celebrated photographer Michele Panzeri recently completed a photoshoot for Ovington House. The official images will be published soon.
Initial work for the basement is now complete. The main structure of the swimming pool is now in place and dry lining of the walls is in progress.
Inflatable Space has been featured in the new book Nanotecture: Tiny Built Things, by Rebecca Roke under HONE’s former name of Penttinen Schöne (p.155). The book features an illuminating collection of 300 works of small-scale architecture that are both quirky and intriguing. Nanotecture: Tiny Built Things is published by Phaidon.
We are pleased to announce that planning permission has been granted by the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea for a the amalgamation of two flats situated within a Grade II listed building.The new large unit will form a spacious home with alterations to the interior to form a larger kitchen /living area, a large family bathroom as well as new circulation space, with attention to the existing period features. HONE have acted as architect, with Savilles acting as the planning consultant.
